Yup, the remote for Windows Media Center would appear to have multi-function codes (i.e. every other time you press a button you get a completely different code than the last time you pressed it). I believe this is also the same with the Delphi XM radio setup.

Anyway, has anybody figured out a way to deal with this in MX? The 'obvious' answer (and time consuming) is to have a page flip on every button which flips to a hidden copy of the same device that has the other 'set' of codes in it. Hate to double our programming time like that and use a second device if there is another way that I am missing. Any thoughts?

PS: this also effects Linksys' new media streamer, which is strictly Media PC compatible. It uses the same remote codes as Media Center directly

You probably could use the "Variable Mode" in the macro window for this.

Aha! I did not specify, but I am talking about ALL MX remotes, including the 800 and 850 which do not support variable mode (unless I've missed something). I wish they would ALL buy the MX3000!!

PS: I'm going to win the contest, woo hoo!!

well, if those codes technically worked as toggle bits do, the 850 could learn them (theoretically). 800 and below, I'd say you're SOL.

If you're talking about the problem of the MX being able to send only one command of a repeated set such as pressing up twice but MCE only accepting it once there's a known fix for this. There's a MS PowerToy that was released that enables a universal remote control by turning off debounce. After installing the PowerToy ([Link: msmvps.com]) set the universal remote section to 0 (zero). That fixed it for me and now my MX-500 is working perfectly. Alternatively there's a registry change you can make but I can't find it right now and besides, the PowerToy takes care of it you anyways.

P.S. Here's a link describing the problem in more detail: [Link: blogs.msdn.com]

Does this work for the Linksys Media Center Extender as well, or just the HTPC?

Answered my own question. I don't know if it was even broken before, but it definitely works now. I turned of debounce in registry and learned all the commands into the MX-850. I will upload my .mxd file for Linksys Media Center Extender to the files area for those that may be interested.

Did you try the codes in the IR database?
