I have programed my MX-500 with all the macros I need except I'm having one problem. There is no discreet poweron/off buttons for the Samsung unit, just one power button. I posted this question before and got some response but I still don't understand the process. Does the remote for this unit have a mode that allows me to access these discreet functions or do I need an additional remote to get and input the codes? I guess I just don't get it! My Mits TV had the same problem but thanks to one of the gurus in the forum I was able to enter a discreet mode on my TV remote, use specific key assignments there to learn the proper commands to my MX-500, then return to normal function. Is this procedure not possible with the Samsung remote?

No, the Mits is an unusual case. Few remotes that come with components have this ability. With the MX-500, the only way to get discretes are from another remote (ie: One for All w/wo JP1) or IRClone.

Thanks for the info, Mike. I thought that might be the case. Any suggestions on a CHEAP one for all remote that would have the codes?

Does the Samsung SIR-TS360 have discreet functions? I haven't come across any personally, but if they exist, it would be great!

Thank you,

Yes, the 360 uses the same discretes as the 160, posted in hex form here.
