Hi Guys:

I'm trying to get my Optoma H77's remote entered on my Mx700. I've gotten poor results with the learning procedure. I've tried taps, flutters, holds, waving a card in front of it, etc. No luck. Keys like menu for example either don't work at all or are slow to respond when they will learn.

I would like to enter the hex codes instead, that would circumvent the uncertaintaies of the learn process. I've researched that and just don't see much of a way to do it with no more info thatn I have to go on. I don't know what protocol Optoma uses so I don't think I can use the hex editor.

If anyone can help I'd be grateful. In particular, I'd like to have a process to add the codes via a hex edit instead of a learn. Worst case, if someone knows how to make this remote learn properly, that would do for now, although the discrete codes would not be available.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi,

I haven't had any problems learning the H30 or 56 remotes, but it sounds like they changed something for the H77. Do any of the IR database commands work? Also, do you actually have the hex codes for the H77?

Do any of the IR database commands
work?

Mike: Thanks for the reply. I believe I got a couple to work from one of the Optoma commands included in the databse. That was an early attempt and I don't remember which it was and am not positive they did work. I abandoned that effort since it didn't do the functions I needed. I can do it again if it would help.

Also, do you actually have the hex codes
for the H77?

I emailed Optoma's tech support and they replied
"We don't have a Pronto file at this time. Attached you will find the IR codes".
What they attached was a jpg pic of a remote (not exactly the one I have but similar) with 2 views of the buttons. One with function names, one with 2 digit hex codes. It's a pretty small remote, 22 buttons.

I'd love to be able to use those codes but don't know how. I am computer literate and could I think with basic process instructions. I saw some instructions on using a Pronto editor to create a device, but I think I need to know the protocol, not sure, fuzzy there. Know how?

Thanks again very much for the time to help,
Scott

You'll need to use the MakeHex program (available in the Files section) to convert the 2-digit commands you got from Optoma to hex. Once you have that, you can create a pronto file from the directions in the FAQ section of my website. I believe there are some instructions for using MakeHex in the Discrete Hunter forum. I haven't used it for awhile, so I can't help you with that part.

Yes, I found that in my research. But it requires you to know the protocol, I believe. I don't know the protocol Optoma uses. Am I wrong?

Thanks,
Scott

Thanks, I will try it. I did find that the "optoma 1" IR codes in the MX700 databse will work, that is communicate. They don't do anything like what they are supposed to do, and some activate hidden discretes not avail on the stock remote. But at least I have a device that will comunicate. Too bad I can't edit that exported device file directly (can I?).

Thanks,
Scott
