Can anyone help me find the power on and off command for Direct TV Tivo. I trying to program it into a MX 3000 but the remote has a toggle on and off. Any Help would be great.

Tivo has a standby mode, but generally isn't supposed to be turned off. If it's supposed to record a program and is off, it wouldn't be able to record. That's why there's no power button on a Tivo remote.

Putting it in Standby mode saves a little power and keeps the hard drive from continuously recording the last 30 minutes, but it really has no great benefit. I have 5 DirecTivos and I never put any of them in Standby mode. The only time I've had one in Standby was when I was using one with an autodetecting video switcher.

Incorrect! A Tivo will record whether it's in standby or not. There are no discrete on and off power codes (there's only a power toggle). You don't really ever need to put it in standby but you can if you wish. Since you have an MX-3000 do what I did to turn it on and off automatically. Create variables (one for on and one for off). You can then put these simulated on and off codes into your macros.

How would I go about doing that. I'm new at this. I've got all the commands already on the MX 3000. I just need the power on. Where do I get it. Thanks for you help.

Unless something changed recently that I'm not aware of, while the D-Tivo will record a scheduled program in Standby mode, it will not record the 30 minute buffer. It also turns off the video output and allows RF pass through. It also draws about 40-45 watts in normal operation and about 1 watt less during standby.
Programming variables is best described in the MX-3000 programming manual.

Mikes right, Dtivos do not add to the buffer while in standby. Whatever was buffered before you put into standby, will still be there. So if you changed the channel then buffered, there won't be anything in the buffer when you take it out of standby. Leave it on a channel with a clock showing.:)

Hmmmm,
My HD10-250 seems to have no power switch, or standby mode.

The Standby button's not on the remote, but it is on the front panel of the 10-250. It's also accessible through the menu. Other Philips or Hughes D-Tivos are the same.

There was a power key on ATT branded peanut remotes, and all other tivos respond to it. Its also available to UEI remote owners in the form of a advanced code. Using setup code 0618, the advanced code is 152.

Edwin, To create the variables just refer to page 53 of the MX-3000 programming manual. It explains it there in pretty good detail. It actually tells you how to create a power on code for a device that doesn't have discrete power on and off codes. You simply reverse some of the settings to create the power off code. Keep in mind that you must already have the standby code for the DirecTV Tivo. The standby code doesn't exist on the remote but it can be added to the MX-3000. You can get the code for any of the ten remote control addresses available (zero works for all units regardless of address) at [Link: 3wdesigns.net]. You will need Pronto software to key the hex code into and then you can save it in a ccf file. Lastly, you can use the universal browser to import the standby code from the ccf file for the address you need. Alternatively, I can send you my rcc file which already has the standby code for addresses one and two in it. It also has the power on and off variables created for addresses one and two. Bob
