Any recommendations on where to buy an MX-700? PriceGrabber lists a number of merchants, with prices from $190 to $360. AVSmarts has it for $350. I've seen it on eBay for as little as $150. Are there any warranty/service concerns of buying from any particular sources?

Thanks. Seems like it's ~$175 from an unauthorized reseller and double that amount from an authorized reseller. Assuming I'm comfortable with the unauthorized reseller (I am, for some) and their own warranty program, the decision seems like a no-brainer. Or am I missing something?

Yes. Some manufacturers (like HTM apparently) have a minimum advertised price policy for their authorized resellers. That's why you see the same price on all the authorized websites. However, they're not required to sell the products at that price (which would be price fixing). What price can you get it for? You won't know if you don't ask. ;-)

Thanks, Tom. If authorized resellers aren't required to see the products at the minimum advertised price, why don't they try to be more price-competitive with one another?

I don't mind spending $15-to-$25 more for a ~$200 item if there's good reason to (like supporting the resellers who offer better support), but to charge double for the item seems excessive, IMO.

I got a great deal on an open-box MX-700 from Mike @ Surf Remote -- it was in mint condition and carried the full one-year warranty. Check on the surfremote.com site under special deals. I believe BlueDo has open-box deals as well.
