You are correct, you cannot override the SoftwareID as it is locked to your sepcific system. If you install DMX v2 onto a machine that has a registered copy of DMX v1 then it will carry the registration over from the previous version. I take it you are trying to register DMX v2 on a new machine, if this is the case, please email me and we can get your fixed up man.

I know this might be best on another thread but this thread is the focus for those with DVD changer(s)...
I can't replace all of my disks with Bluray and in any case there are no reasonably priced changers with 400 disk capacity. This leads me to my dilemma how best to improve the quality of the signal of my exisiting changers which offer no upconverting at all. Does anyone have experience with serious upconverting equipment like DVDO?
Now that I have a good monitor my cherished DVD are starting to look like VHS. Something has got to change.

I get decent upscaling through my ONKYO TX-SR806. It's got a Faroudja DCDI upscaling chip in it that does a decent job. Certainly better than stock and a decent little receiver for the $$.

Today I showed DMX-3000 to a few other team members here at URC. Like me, they were astonished (and I'm not using that word lightly) at what Bracken was able to get the MX-3000 to do.
At one point in the conversation I said to my coworker, "I just look at this and I have to wonder how it's even possible on the MX-3000."
My coworker simply replied, "Yeah... it's NOT possible."
And yet... well... if you haven't done so yet, go to tripleBsoftware.com, download the Preview RCC, and run it in the MX-3000 emulator or on your MX-3000. I was involved with this thing and I still don't understand how Bracken did it.
Best regards, Dale

I have been working on the DMX-3000 install and it looks great. The User Guide for the DMX-3000 is very professional.
Once I can get the Sony changer macros working, I look forward to showing off!
Dick.

I agree with Dale's statement.
The first version of DMX was very functional, but rough. The second version is astonishing.
If you have a changer and an MX-3000, don't hesitate to buy this.

Dale,
What Bracken did was only possible because of one thing. He doggedly reverse engineered the file format for MX-3000. I have been working on the same thing myself over the last 3 months or so for an undisclosed project that's been in the back of my mind for a while now. If you guys would open the file format so we wouldn't be locked into using the ridiculously oversimplified UI for programming advanced automated tasks, I'd be willing to bet you'd see a LOT of cool stuff like this from some of the more programming-oriented DIY-ers.
Don't get me wrong, the IDE for the MX-3000 is great for basic stuff, but when it comes to advanced things and automating tedious processes like adding 400 dvds worth of information, you are stuck. If you guys would provide docs on the file format, guys like Bracken and me would be able to do a LOT more. I know it isn't your decision, but you should mention it if you get a chance. I know the overall direction of the company has been to move away from the DIY market, but you can't help but wonder what further collaboration would have brought forth after looking at the new DMX. I'm not sure what kind of help Bracken DID receive, but imagine how much more quickly things could have gone if he had good documentation on the file format.

Well, I can tell you that Bracken got absolutely no help whatsoever. And you might want to talk with him about your project to see if he knows anything that he could share to help you.
I agree that an open file format would be cool. I've lobbied for this for a couple of years now. With the MX-6000, there's a better chance of it happening: not totally open, but open at least to our Complete Control Partners.
If your project is such that you think it might be useful to installers, you might consider applying to be a Complete Control Partner. That might get you the leverage you need to get your hands on the documentation you need.
Best regards, Dale

I have two changers. I use the DVP-CX995V for my DVD's since ti has an HDMI output and it looks great on my Pioneer Elite Monitor - but certainly not as good as my Sony 550 Blue-Ray. I use my DVP-CX860 for my music CD's and some of my older DVD's that do not need the HDMI output. I also have a Sony S7000 for playing single DVD's. In general, I have found that the upconversion of the Elite Monitor is great - in fact, I think it does a better job than my Denon 2807 Receiver.
The two changers work differently, so the macros must be set up with different commands. You also have to set up one of them with Code Set 2, to avoid both changers reacting to the same commands.
Haven't finished the conversion to the Gravity graphics yet, but it is looking good.

Sony has finally released the two BD Mega Changers, the BDP-CX960 (MSRP $800) which is scheduled for release in October and the BDP-CX7000ES (MSRP $1800) which was released this past week. It appears that disc selection is only possible through the GUI interface thus making disc selection through DMX3000 difficult to say the least. Hopefully Sony can be convinced to add direct slot selection through a firmware update before the 960 is released.

For some reason, I'm seeing the multi disc page on multi discs, but the right side of the screen is blank. There is nothing to choose. The single discs work fine.
Any ideas?

Have you sent the file to your remote yet? I'm guessing no... The movie descriptions don't appear in the editor, but you'll see them on the remote or in the emulator.

Yes, I've sent the file to the remote. That's the only way to truly test it. I'm puzzled.
