FYI:
I use 115200/8/N/1/x-on/x-off/14/16 as my COM configuration for upload and download of my MXOP.
I also use COM2.
Yyou might want to try these out and see if you have more success in uploading.

I use 9600/8/N/1/x-on/x-off/14/16 as my COM1 or COM2 configuration ('98SE) for uploading and downloading programs for the MXOP.
I do not have any problems other than the macro situation which is to be fixed.

I use use Windows ME set at 9600/n/1/x-on/x-off on com1,(make sure that there are NO interrupt request device conflicts).
I've never had problems uploading or downloading the .mdl or .ldt files.
I use the latest mx-1000 software.
The software is buggy, but once I learned my way around the bugs, I haven't had any problems customizing the MX-1000.

I can download the .mdl at 9600 baud, but cannot upload the .ldt at any speed. Perhaps I don't have enough RAM (only 32MB) or CPU speed (200MHz).
But that brings up an interesting question, why do I need to? When I download the .mdl I lose my preprogrammed codes, macros and system settings, but I here that happens anyway. All my learned codes are still there.
