Anyone know how to program the mx-1000 for power-on/power-off codes for Sony components, rather than power toggle codes?

I have a new MX-1000 remote and a home theater system with (mostly) Sony components. I have the same complaint with this remote as I do with many others; the Power button is a toggle, rather than supporting separate power-on / power-off functions.

For reasons not worth explaining, in my system not everything can be on at the same time. But, I want to program a macro that turns EVERYTHING off, and I need to turn on individual components.

Sony receiver remotes send power off codes when you push the "off" button, but it's a sequence so you can't learn it all. Similarly, pushing a device button sends power-on sequences; close, but the MX-1000 won't learn complete sequences, only a code or two.

Any suggestions?

I'm hoping to provide a solution for this once I can figure out the LDT file format. I have a similar situation as yours with several sony components I don't want turned on all of the time (DVD for example). If I can get the LDT format decoded, then I hope to create a translator from Pronto discretes to MX-1000. Then you'll be able to assign a soft button the power off signals.

Thanks, Jason. I've been watching your threads, you're a great help to us all.

Sounds like you have the same DVD issue I have. My television insists on switching to the S-Video input if the DVD is on, so I can't watch anything else.

Actually, I don't have the problem you describe. I just don't want my DVD or VCR or Satellite on all the time :-)

BTW, I have not had any problem learning any of the Sony codes, including their power on/off button. I just can't get a discrete power on or discrete power off signal (or don't know how). If I can translate the Pronto discrete, then voila!
