ATTENTION

I have forwarded a list of problems/questions/ideas that users have posted here on the site to Home Theater Master as culled from numerous threads.

I have received some answers, which will be included in a later post (within a day or two). Some problems will need further investigation. And some are being fixed/included/considered for the next and future software upgrades. The most pressing concerns will be dealt with first in the next release.

I have also been asked to work with some of the users here who have expressed concerns by having them send in their modified MXOP and and supporting files. This way Home Theater Master will be able to directly access their files and provide answers. I will contact them directly!!!

Greg,

I just want to thank you for all your work on this matter. While I haven't experienced all the problems some of the others have, it's nice to know that steps are being taken to address them, as well as the common upload/download problems. I have spoken to Universal myself and they are genuinely trying to solve these problems. Like I've said before, if the software issues can be resolved, this remote will kick butt.

Also, thanks to all the programming experts (who should be paid by HTM) for all the work that they have done. This remote has really only been out for a few months, and we have a button converter program, a button download site and instruction for using Access to assist in programming buttons. Just think what we'll have in another couple of months.

Okay, that's enough, now let's get back to the problems.

Where are the Access instructions published? I'd like to link to them, or are you referring to my docs?

Also, it seems that you have to download the Default config to update the operating version. I actually ended up backing up my remote, deleting the software (not sure if this was required), re-installing and downloading the Default config. I then loaded my backed up MDL file and downloaded that. The initial program loader says version 1.00 but the version specified in the "Program Loading" menu says version 1.01.

Oh, I also had a button corruption issue after updating. A couple of my two line buttons had the second line corrupted. I didn't notice it until I went into the page the buttons were on and saw garbage on the screen. I opened the MDL file with access and cleaned up the garbage in the ButtonTextTB. I think someone else posted instructions on how to do that already.

Yes, I was referring to your docs, as well as others. "Instructions" was more the result of the accumulated posts on this subject. Thanks.

I've been lingering here for months and appreciate all of the help provided by the contributors to this board. I had been waiting for the perfect remote to replace my RC2000 for some time... and I have been extremely happy with the MX1000 (although I would kill or die for MENU and PAUSE hard buttons... oh well).

Jason S,
Can you tell if there are any differences between version 1.00 and 1.01? I'm planning on installing it tonight, but I'll wait if there are not any "fixes" of value. Thanks for the tips on installing it.

Greg,
Perhaps I am just missing the docs, but if not, is it a high priority on HTM's "list" to provide documentation with each release of the software detailing what has changed? If I am just missing the docs can someone kindly point me to them.

Thanks!

Rob: The docs are being prepared.

I use the Channel Up button for MENU and the CHANNEL down button for DISPLAY for DVD and I use previous channel for PAUSE (since I don't have PREV. CHANNEL on my TV or VCR).

I have found that version 1.01 has allowed me to upload without any problems at all.

In the future, there will no doubt be a list of what has changed, but I'm glad we at least have the version number displayed on the web page, and in the file name.

Greg,

Yep, I use a similar pause/menu solution, but I'm hoping the MX-2000 will include these buttons :-)

Great news about 1.01! I have only successfully uploaded once, so hopefully this will get me going. I currently make all changes on the computer using MXOP and Access, download, reprogram buttons (as necessary), and redo all macros and punch throughs, etc. This works very well, but it is a bit time consuming. I'm anxiously awaiting the day that I can upload everything, make modifications with MXOP only (although it is nice to have access to the config via Access), download, and only have to learn the "changed" buttons.

Great news on the docs too!

Thanks for the update!

I haven't seen any difference yet. On my Win98 system I've been pretty successfull and uploads and downloads (if I weren't, I wouldn't have any of my LDT data...).

You may notice an increase in speed in uploading and downloading.

I got the new version installed tonight... I had the same 1.00/1.01 experience as Jason S. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I had any improvement in uploading. Out of desperation, and since I hadn't tried it before, I crawled behind my computer and switched the cable from COM2 to COM1 (using 9600/8/N/1/Hardware/14/16) and now I am able to upload successfully roughly 1 out of 4 times... very strange. I'm not sure that 1.01 provided any value, but at least I am able to upload now.

Rob: Try 115200 and use Xon/Xoff. Works great for me!

Sweet! Thanks for the tip. I uploaded successfully three times in a row! Has anyone compiled a FAQ of MX-1000 tips such as this?
