OK, this remote is doing some crazy things. I fully customized the remote using the PC software. No crashes at all, worked fine. I downloaded the software and everything was A-OK. But, I ran into some strange problems when I tried to teach the remote all my components. The first was on the satellite, a Star-Choice system. I created an LCD button called "guide". The MX-1000 said everything was fine when it learned the command, but upon pressing the "guide" button nothing happened. I tried it about 6 times, and still nothing. Then as I tried out the other commands, the MX-1000 sent out the "guide" command when I pressed the "hard channel up" button. I tried reprogramming it several times with the same result.

I then moved onto the DVD player, a Toshiba. I tried to program an LCD button with "display" and "menu". Again, when I pressed either of those buttons nothing happened. But when I pressed "channel up" it sent the "menu" command, and when I pressed volume up it sent the "display" command. Again I've tried programming it several times with the same result.

This is just STRANGE! Crutchfield is sending me a new unit to see if this is just my unit or these remotes in general. Anybody else have this kind of screwed up behaviour out of there MX-1000??

I've been having EXACTLY the same problems you've been having. Buttons not working at all, and some buttons taking on the learned codes of other buttons. I can't figure out what is going on but it's driving me crazy. I'd like to hear if your replacement remote makes a difference. If so, I'll send mine in for replacement also...

I have been experiencing that exact problem. I read on another thread to try deleting the problem button, download, then add the button again and re-learn. Although that moved the problem around to other buttons, I still had the same problems when trying to learn commands from an RCA remote for DirecTV.

I even tried deleting all of the buttons on the page and then adding them back with no success.

I purchased my remote from Crutchfield as well and would be curious if the new unit solves the issue. If not, I guess I figure out what the next best choice is.

The only way I cured these problems was after the download, I deleted the buttons in question using the
remotes funtions, then still using just the remote funtions I added new buttons and text. After relearning, all worked fine. I am finding this to be
an unstable system using the pc software, but is much more stable using the remote's programming functions.
Still, I like the remote, but they still have some work to do with the stability.

Thanks Ken. This seems to have solved the problem. I will end up redoing quite a few buttons, but the remote will be usable again. Obviously it is a problem with the software.

As mentioned earlier in this thread I had the same problems. Apparently it has something to do with the buttons being overlapped in the PC software at some point during the setup.

I solved my problems without having to do any editing on the remote itself. I deleted the problem button, saved the file to disk, then added it back being very careful not to drop it on top of any other buttons. Then I downloaded to the remote and relearned the function. Works great now.
