LCD Buttons Sharing Learned Functions?

One of the problems I've been having with my MX1000 learning codes is that LCD buttons adjacent to one I'm programming pick up the code of the adjacent button. For instance, I created a button for SAP and a button for ANT/AUX, both for my Sony KPR-53CX35 TV. Both appear to learn correctly. But when I use them, they both contain the function of the last button I learned. If I then go back and relearn the incorrect one, they both take on the code of that function. ???
I thought maybe it was because I had placed the buttons very close on the screen, but moving and relearning the codes yields no change. I also went through the Touchscreen calibration process and relearned the buttons. No change. It doesn't do this for all buttons, but always happening on the same buttons when it happens. It's happened on the buttons for my Sony TiVo also.

Anybody else have a similar problem with their MX1000?

I had the same problem when I first downloaded my model. 6 buttons did this. On the remote, I erased one button from each pair, then reinserted and labelled it. I could then teach both buttons independently even if I put it back in the exact same location as before.

I had the same problem. Nothing I did fixed it untill I removed one of the buttons, upload to PC, add the same button in the same place, download to remote and re-learn. Seems fine now. After 2 days with this remote I am disappointed, but after spending so much time on it, reluctant to return it and get something else that isn't necesarily better.

I think I've seen this problem when editing. Somehow a button gets 'attached' to another. This typically happens if you move one button over another... this can also happen with text (on some of my 2-line labels it was impossible to move or delete one line without removing the other).

Aha. OK, problem seems to be solved.

I went through the process of deleting the duplicated button, saving the file to disk, then adding it back; being very careful not to overlap with other buttons in anyway. Downloaded to the remote and relearned the function and it works just fine! This was apparently the problem I'd been having with my Sony TV "vid1, vid2" etc input source buttons not working.

Thank the consumer electronic gods for this website. Manufacturers' support being what it is I was almost ready to return the remote...

(I hope Universal Remotes heard that... ;-)
