I think they're referring to it as "GregStones" buttons now. ;-))

Does anyone have a pic of the new GS2 MX-500? Mike? Randy? Also, the GS1's I've seen were more of a charcoal gray color rather than the blue of the original MX-500. Are the GS2's the same charcoal gray? I prefer that color to the blue!

I tried the rubber band fix on my newer Gemstone MX-500. What happened was, it ended up to tight and the rubber band is unretrievable now :(
I sent Randy at RRdeals an email to see what my options are (if any). I haven't been able to use the remote.

Sincerely bummed,

Chip Engle

Chip,

I'm glad you posted here, as your email bounced back! The manufacturer is replacing remotes affected by a troublesome thumbpad. Contact Home Theater Master (the manufacturer) by phone at 1-800-901-0800, or contact Customer Service Manager - Mike Gifford by email at [email protected]

Just wanted to share my recent experience with URC. I recently purchased a MX-500 from R&R deals--a GS 1 with the troublesome thumbpad. I debated sending it in for a replacement, but finally decided to go ahead. I contacted Mike Gifford by email <[email protected]> who immediately made arrangements for UPS to pick up my remote. Four days later the replacement arrived! (Picked up on Wednesday, returned on Saturday) URC's service was fast, free, and absolutely painless!! All of my programmed settings had been perfectly cloned to the new remote. Best of all, I found the thumbpad to be much improved. For those who are on the fence about swapping out their GS-1, I can only say that I am one totally satisfied customer!

Glad it only took four days for Glenn. 'Course he lives in Penn., I live in California. It took a WEEK for my remote just to get to NY! But I just got an e-mail from Mike at URC and it should be here by Wednesday. I can hardly wait!! I'm totally impressed with URC and how they've handled this. Good word-of-mouth for them, an I've told LOTS of people about this.

Now if I can only find working Sony Soundfield codes....

Hi all!
Got my MX-500 back from URC today! Took two weeks for it to get from Calif. to N.Y. and back by UPS ground, but what can I expect FOR FREE?!

The new thumbpad is considerably better. Partly because the internal contact/action is improved, and partly, I think, to the new thumbpad itself. The previous thumbpad was totaly concave. This one has, hmmm.. how do it describe it?, a flatened bump? in the center of the pad, that gives you a more stable action when you press it for the Select function.

If you've never used a thumbpad or joystick device like this, it still takes a little getting used to, but I have to say this new thumbpad is definatly better.

All my programming from the old remote was copied to this new one, and near as I can tell, it's all there and functioning. (like I said, I JUST got it)

Hats off and a bow to URC for OUTSTANDING customer service, above and beyond the call of duty!!!!

Rob
