MX-1000 is now supposed to be released by the end of June.

:(

I might just have to buy a Pront instead, becouse I don't believe June deadline.

Does anybody know what the real story is here? I had heard there was a shortage on the LCD screens and that was causing the delay. But heck, I think I could have grown the silicon, taken an EE correspondence course, and built one myself in this amount of time...

We are confident with June being the release date for the MX-1000, and will release it with the software as it is. The engineers could keep the remote control delayed forever if they continue to improve the software, but once it is released, you can download future upgrades from our website (UNIVERSAL-REMOTE.COM)into the remote control through the RS232 serial port which comes with the remote control.

Could someone at Universal Remote keep me up-to-date on this? After calling a few times over the past half year to check on the MX-1000's progress, I got the feeling I shouldn't call. So I haven't lately. :-)

We spoke with them last week and they tell us we should have the MX-1000 in stock by middle of June.
We will see about that.

Phoned today and they said end of June. Alas, my previous contact (D.R.) no longer works there and the gentleman I spoke to on the phone hadn't really heard about this web site -- so I basically got the standard line.

It's more like, alas it's June do THEY know WHEN the mx-1000 is?
You would think they could come up with a final release date by now, and maybe update thier website.
Also if the software is done how about letting us download it and see if it's REALLY worth the last six months of waiting. Finally if they could maybe give one up early so a review could be done would be great.
Yes I'm still interested in the remote but if it doesn't live up to the hype and six months of "improvements" I'll be upset that I didn't just get the pronto to begin with.
