Hello,

I have an MX-850 that will no longer upload or download the programming data without errors. The programming in the MX-850 got corrupted when I tried downloading and received Fail and other error codes. I tested the cable and com setup by uploading and downloading from another MX-850 and an MX-700, and they work properly with no errors.

I tired the procedures in this thread for clearing the ram, running test mode and uploading a new 10 item setup, but the errors continue. It seems that there must be a faulty jack or PCB.

My question is, will an MX-700 PCB work with an MX-850 shell and buttons? I prefer the feel of the MX-850 buttons and the select button to the MX-700. They look the same but I do not know if the swap will match up OK.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks Edmund. Would you have any tips for a first timer doing the swap?

Also, have you ever replaced the 3.5mm stereo jack on an MX-850? I'm wondering if the jack could be my problem.

When taking remote apart, start at the bottom of the remote, you need to pry it apart, so you can get edge of an old credit card in, and slide it around popping the catches.

I have never tried to solder remote, or replace a jack. Sorry.

Thanks Edmond. I've taken MX-850 and 700's apart several times. I have an 850 that was working fine, but has corrupted data due to download errors that occurred, and it will not complete an upload or download. I think it is most likely the 3.5mm jack. So, I am looking for info about how difficult it would be to replace.
