I have had an MX450 remote for about 6 years. I've never downloaded the archiver software and the remote is still working like a champ.
I also have an MX600 that is due for a replacement so I thought I would get another MX450 to keep things consistent. There are a lot of new components in my system so I wanted to make sure I have the archiver software to update the firmware and new codes before I commit to getting another MX450.
I have a 64 bit windows 10 computer. I can download the software, but it won't update. I also can't get the computer to recognize my remote when I plug it into the USB port. I also tried downloading the software to an older 32 bit Windows 8 computer with the same results.
The software version is 12.5.2008.1. When I click on the "live update" button, it says there is a new version and the software will be restarted, but nothing happens.
Any thoughts or does anyone have a link to a more updated version of the software?

Of course I no longer have mx-450.

Your reply got me thinking that it might be the windows version. After a little research I found that many programs were written assuming you were running them as administrator. If you right click on the .exe you can run it as an administrator. That fixed the updating issue!
However, I still can't connect my remote to my laptop. It still says my remote isn't connected. I've tried a couple different cables and both computers so there is either a problem with the USB port on my remote, or there is something about win 8 and win 10 that is blocking the remote from being recognized.
Anyone have any thoughts on that?

It might be missing the driver, when its plugged into the computer, what does it say when you look for remote under devices?

I don't see it listed under devices. At least it isn't sticking out to me. I don't know what it would show up as.

I know what device it is in the device manager. It shows up under "Human Interface Devices" as USB Input Device. According to device manager, it is working correctly and the drivers are up to date.
I've tried four cables and two computers. I don't know what else to try.

Sounds like you don't have "Windows Mobile Device Manager" installed.
If not that should solve the problem.

That is exactly what I needed to fix my issue on Windows 10. Thanks!
