But I can't seem how to rename the main devices. It's not even addressed in the owners manual.

Anyone know how to change/edit the main page?

Do the following:

1. main & ent
2. edit
3. page
4. pick device, edit as usual

IIRC, the MX-600 is programmed exactly like the MX-500, and i also seem to remember that the manual for the NXG NX-RM505 (clone of the MX-500) had the main device instructions that were missing from the URC manuals so maybe the NX-RM505 manual would be of more help:
