Here's how to make the MX-3000 work on windows 10:

Install the mx-3000 editor software
go into the properties for the mx-3000 editor.exe file
On the compatibility tab, change the compatibility mode to Windows XP SP 2
Without this the live update function will not work.
Open the software and run the live update

Install the correct version of Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 for Windows Vista either 64 bit or 32 bit. 64 bit avail here:
[Link: microsoft.com]

Once downloaded try running install as normal- no compatibility mode. If not successful go into properties for downloaded install file and change the compatibility mode to Windows Vista SP 2. I was successful without doing this.

Once installed plug in the MX-3000 to a USB port. Open device manager by clicking windows button + r. In the run window type: devmgmt.msc
Device manager will launch. Device will show up in device manager as "unknown device". If you don't see it make sure the MX-3000 is awake, otherwise it will disappear from the list. then follow these steps:
right click on device and click "Update Driver software..."
Click "Browse My Computer"
Click "Let Me Pick"
Choose "Mobile Device"
Choose "Microsoft" as the manufacturer
Choose "Microsoft USB Sync"
Make sure the MX-3000 is awake.

That's it, should work from here, it did for me.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for taking the time to share this fix for Windows 10. I have Editor version 1.2 so I don't have the live update feature. I just skipped that step and the MX-3000 now communicates. I wish I had the version with live update. Do you know where one can obtain that version.

Thanks again, Steve
