I have the same problem as dkap - my R50 seems to be giving out with the same symptoms he describes.

I do like the R50 and bought a new MX-450 to replace it. Here's a goofy question: do you think I can put the 450 in learning mode and teach it from my existing R50? Do you think it can learn the macros I have in the R50? (I don't have very many so that's not a show-stopper.)

Thanks!

It could be taught single commands one at a time, but not a string of commands like a macro is made up of, sorry.

That's what I thought, but still this will be an easier way to transfer the programming than starting from scratch.

I just wish they had an affordable (<$300) remote that could be backed up and wouldn't be discontinued all the time. My R50 only lasted 2 years and the 450 is already discontinued. I understand their real market is for commercial installers and I respect that. But they seem to be blowing off computer savvy advanced A/V amateurs like me.

The mx-450 can be backed up via the mx-450 archiver software, and its library updated.

Um, I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I DO understand the 450's setup can be stored. When I said I wanted a longer term solution and the 450 has already been discontinued, what contribution advice do you have??? Because the 450 won't be available much longer. What is URC offering next???

Jeeez. I'm happy with the URC solutions. I need and answer to my reasonable question.
