I have 3 MX-500 remotes right now, and one of them just started showing RAM EMPTY last week. After searching the internet (and this forum) I found that the only fix is to have URC repair it.

So I called them today, they said there was nothing they could do and I would have to replace the remote (i.e. buy a new one). I said I can't since it isn't sold anymore but no other solution was offered. They don't fix this model anymore.

Is it just me, or is it disgraceful that a company won't stand behind a 6 year old product and repair a known issue that isn't the fault of the consumer?

As it stands, all the programming I've set up for this remote (lots of custom codes to control a PC) are now lost. I'm not pleased. Does anyone have any knowledge of how I could repair this myself? I'll try anything.

You can find them on ebay, it is not the end of the world. Look for mx-600 or nxg brand.
