I have programmed my 'Off' button to turn off the TV, Receiver and then the Cable box which looks like this:
1 TV-MENU - P1
2 ON/OFF TV-MENU
3 TUNER - P1
4 POWER TUNER
5 CABLE - P1
6 POWER CABLE
-- END--

I can do this 5 times in a row and sometimes it will do fine other times it will turn the receiver off then back on and sometimes it will leave the Cable box on.

If it is running the same Macro each time why would it be different?

I have had not changed any programming on this remote lately.

What make and models do you have for your equipment?

It looks like your macro includes the pages. It's cleaner tonise the tree on the left when creating your macro. Looking at this, it looks like you are using toggle commands (one command with turn the device on or off)

Depending on your equipment, you should be using discrete commands where OFF only turns the device off and ON only turns the device on.

I will check into my devices when I get home and see if they have discrete commands in the list or not.

If not... Then I will try recording the macro using the left side tree.

I will post the results.

Using the tree will result in not having the pages listed in the macro, but should not really affect the way the macro runs. Using toggles can certainly throw things out of whack though. Discretes, if available, is definitely the way to go.

Ok, so I had some time to play with this.

I did a recording using the Tree and It looks like this:

1 On/Off TV-Menu (Turns TV off)
2 Power Tuner (Turns Receiver off)
3 Power Cable (Turns Cable off)

This works the first time of testing it out but the second time... TV and Cable turn off fine, but the Receiver turns off then back on.

This is so weird.

Ok so my Receiver is a Yamaha HTR-3064.
This was not on this list of devices before.

I just did an upgrade of the Software and now there is a Yamaha HTR-3065 so I went with it and created a 'Power on' and a 'Power off' button now.

Created the macro using the 'Power off' and tested it 3 times with no problems.

Thanks for the ideas to try..... working great now.

Glad it worked out. Discretes are always the way to go for the very reasons you experienced. Should be smooth sailing for you moving forward.
