I have two MX-350 remotes that are very dated (2/06) as far as the preprogrammed codes. I do understand I could go the long route and 'learn' each and every command for each device, but I thought it would be nice if I didn't have to do that. Depending on price, is it worth getting one of these, assuming I could get it for under $100 and possibly under $75?

If you could get one that cheap, I would do it since the PCL-300 retails for $300. I never considered getting one myself as I seldom program those remotes and the unit costs way more than the remotes.

I found a brand new one on e-bay for $35 including shipping. I mostly wanted it for updating the preprogrammed codes since the MX-350 I have is 3 1/2 years old and none of the codes I need work.
The owners manual borders on useless which seems to be par for the course with Universal. When I called Universal, I was told the guy who developed this left the company some time back and took his error codes with him when I asked about an error I was receiving when trying to connect to the remote.
Anyway, does anyone have experience with one of these and had trouble communicating with a 350 or 650? I have two 350's, and one appears to be bad. I can not communicate with it at all. The other 350 works fine (so far).

As far as the cost, AFAIC, it's only worth $50. (new). $300 is ridiculous. Worse than what they are getting for these top end $400 remotes.

Both model numbers are the same. One is older than the other by a year. Apparently, the older one won't/can't communicate with that base as posted elsewhere in this forum.
The other problem with the remote that does communicate is I can't upgrade the remote even though the dialog boxes in the program show a transfer, so does the LCD screen on the remote. But, nothing is upgraded. Also, I can't transfer the config file from the remote to the PC. It shows the process went ok, but no file.
