I was looking at the MX-810, it seems to be the best remote, closest to my budget. Because I run a projector, high and back on the ceiling, plus a tv off to the side, plus more components on a rack, I was wondering firstly what is the cheapest RF Add on to get with it. Its all in one room only few meters apart, but the projectors on the roof, tv to the side, and components also off to the side, I do need something that will work without direct line of sight, i just will never need an rf extender that goes beyond 10 feet.

Secondly do these rf extenders since IM still unsure about them convert all signals into Rf? Like my projector is IR activated on the roof, could it make it work like an rf signal even though Im not pointing at it.

The cheapest current URC RF product is the MRF-260.

The way the RF base stations work is that the remote talks to the RF base station via RF. The base station can be placed wherever you want. You then run wires from the base station to the components. These wires have ir emitters on the end which you stick on your components near the IR receivers. Essentially, the RF is used to extend the range of IR and make it more reliable.

It is also possible to mix and IR and RF. For example, if you wanted to you could use standard IR from the remote to work with the TV and RF to your other devices.

I dont know if that would be very practical running emitters, up on the ceiling, would a remote extender be more of what Im looking for? Can it work with a remote extender like this.

This is a picture of my theatre I basically just want to sit in the middle of it and be able to pick up the reception mainly for my projector.

Any suggestions please. I was looking at something like this to put in the top of my cabinet which would hopefully improve the signal power and send it to the projector where it will be across from.

The MRF100 will work, and you might be able to use the flooder to flash the projector. I'd recommend getting at least an MRF300, though (preferably an MRF350 as they are prone to less interference), as it has a separate antenna that can be remotely mounted to help eliminate RF interference. You can also have multiple basestations in the house if you get the 300. If you get the 100, you can't add more of them throughout the house, as they all operate on the same frequency. For example, if you have two identical cable boxes hooked up to two MRF100s in two areas of the house, both remotes will control both cable boxes.

I just bought the Mx-810 and MRF-260. the RF works great, no problems at all. I did have the Hamony 980 and the RF on that is junk. The Mx-810 is fantastic!
