I have an MX-700 that was working fine. I had added some learned functions which were accepted. When I went to update it, I got a message that it would not connect. The remote did a self check and came up RAM empty. Now I cannot get past this step. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I like this remote and would hate for it to be dead.

Unfortunately, the only way to resolve that issue is to send it in to URC.
