I'm looking for a remote with the same functionality as the 700. I understand that this remote is no longer available. Which current model will give me the same functionality given that I don't want/need any new/more expensive options?

Thanks

MX-850 is EXACTLY the same as the MX-700 except for the improved center select button, better backlight, and addition of RF, and it's still available.

The MX-850 is basically an updated version of the MX-700. It will look and feel very familiar to you as a MX-700 user. It is more or less the ultimate version of this remote. You will appreciate the dedicated select button and the new backlight. Beware, however, it still uses a serial port for programming so you will need a serial port or a suitable adapter.

The MX-900 is more like the next generation of this class of remote. It has dedicated skip buttons, usb programming and a quite a different layout.

I would recommend you check both of them out.

Thanks for the suggestions. When I started looking around to purchase the 850 I was surprised at the huge price difference. Some vendors through Amazon sell them for about $170. Onecall and at least one other vendor sells them for over $400. Why the huge difference?

Email some of the authorized dealers (namely www.surfremotecontrol.com and www.proremotes.com) and ask for "unadvertised specials". They can get you a pretty good price and you'll be buying from a reputable, authorized dealer, which means you get fully updatable software and warranty.
