Newbie here regarding an issue I cannot find anywhere in my searches.

My installer recently programmed my MX-850 to operate my new DirectTv HR20-700 DVR. Ever since, I experience occasional channel changes, rewinds, fast forwards, menu displays, etc. even though the remote control is sitting on the coffee table untouched. For example, I am watching channel 206, and the channel banner suddenly pops up, followed by entry of a "7", then another "7" and then channel 77 comes on. This is just an example-there seems to be no repetitive pattern. Its as if A GHOST IS OPERATING THE REMOTE!

For the first two weeks that I had the HR20-700, before the MX-850 was programmed to operate it, I used the HR20-700's remote in RF mode and I did not have this problem. Therefore, I assume the problem is with the remote and not the DVR. I have the MRF-300 base station with the RFX-150 antenna.

Can anyone offer any help or suggestions to solve this problem?

Check the rf id code on the MRF-300. Are there any people close to you that may have that kind of remote?

I have had 2 people that lived next to each other and they both had the same remote bought at 2 different shops, they had know idea what was going on. I got the calls about 20 min apart and I started to laugh after I looked at the house numbers. They had both went somewhere else to buy the remotes but they both came to me to fix there problems.

Take the batteries out the remote, if its still doing the same thing then its not you but as J.Todd said somebody in your range thats doing it.

Contact your CI for him to fix it. (Probably just need to set to a different ID, hopefully it wasn't left on zero)

Sure enough, the base station ID is set to zero. I left a message for my installer and think I am getting close to solving this mystery! Thanks for your help.
