I was given an mx-800 but it does not have the default screen names etc,I do have an mx-500 but this is a completly different remote and I need some help.
I downloaded the software and registered and got the latest software but I want to restore thr remote back to factory default because it has all types of names that don't match my components.

Just start programming it in the software. When you download to the remote, everything will be replace with what you program in the software.

Quite a bit different from the Harmony 880. I can see why you wanted to trade. The Harmony is a cute remote but pretty crappy programming. Also the remote should have been reset to factory defaults. If it wasn't just hold down the main and stop buttons until the menu pops up to reset it.
