I have searched through this forum (and others) and cannot locate any codes that will program my URC-200 to work my DirecTV HR-20 box. When I try to program the keys manually, for some reason only half of them work. What's really frustrating is that it takes about 10+ tries to get a GOOD beam into the URC-200 and then the keys still don't work consistently.

Can anyone help?

PS - I don't know how to open a .mxa file, if the answer is in there, I'm willing to learn.

Sorry but there isn't preset code for the hr20 in the urc200.

Any file useless to the urc200, it only accepts preset codes and commands that are taught.

Yes the urc100, 200 and 300 remotes have real learning problem. Use new battereies in both remotes and keep trying to teach. Or upgrade to the RF20, it has preset code and doesn't have the learning problem of the URC series.

when teaching put the remotes together touching each other, press doner remote key slightly and abruptly.

Thank you Edmund.

Looks like either patience or $$ are called for. I'll have to give patience a try first.

Code 173 works on my URC-200 and my H20, I recalled the code on my remote before posting.

Then your remote must have had its memory fleshed by URC.

A urc-200 is silver, has name Automator on the front and FCC ID of 0Z5URC200.

A RF20 is charcoal, has RF20 on the front, and also has FCC ID of 0Z5URC200.

What remote do you have?
