I just got an rf20 with powerblaster because my equipment is in a cabinet. The setup is going OK except the volume - I need to be able to press and hold the volume button to keep sending the command but when I do that it just sends the volume up or down command a single time. Is this something I can do?

Thanks.

To start with: Are you using a code from the database or a learned code?

thanks for the advice but I'm still having a problem. i held the source button and the urc button but it doesn't seem to save the command until i release the urc button. i kept the source button pressed the whole time but then it doesn't seem to matter whether i've held the urc button for 1 second or 60 it still just records the volume change once.

Its the source button that has to be held down, not a quick release, and not the URC key which only need to tap and release. Use new batteries in both remotes.

what is the brand and compontent you're learning?

It doesn't seem to matter how long I hold the source button down. the urc remote says good, saved after a split second. the component is a samsung ht-dm150. they've been around a while but none of the samsung codes work. i also tried going through all of the codes but none of them seemed to work either. One thing i found on another site seemed to suggest that it wouldn't work for learned codes, only preprogrammed ones.

Yes, samsung tvs are will known for this but it is preprogrammed commands that give owners problems. The remotes have the wrong protocol, it one time it was the right one but samsung changed it. But your tv oem has the right protocol, and a learning remote shouldn't have any trouble learning theses commands.

Do me a favor, program a tv code not samsungs to the tv device. without erasing the taught commands, do the volume keys even work at all now?

Ignore the "Good" indicator when learning. Just follow thru with holding the button down on the donor remote for 5 seconds. This is your problem. It is a common one with Samsung.

ok. that doesn't fix the problem but your helping me figure it out. The samsung is a home theater system and it doesn't seem to matter how long I hold the button on the source remote - it is always the same result. However, I tried learning the volume command for my panasonic TV and that seems to work fine so it would seem that you are right - it is a samsung issue - now... is there anything I can do about it?

do you have another learning remote? try teaching it the samsung commands, if they work right, use it to teach the mx500.

i have been using another universal for a while now. it's an x10 ur74a and it works fine. but using it to teach the urc works the same as using the original remote so it's got to have something to do with the urc.
