Just got my MX-350 last night and thought it was very
straight forward and relatively easy to setup. Much easier
than my old Sony Remote Commander anyways. Got all my
devices programmed, got the punch through stuff working
the way I wanted, even got my basic ON/OFF macros working
no problem. Did have a couple questions though that a
search didn't really answer or clear up for me.
1. Can I hide Page 2 of the main menu? I followed the
instructions but don't seem to get the Add?/Hide? dialog
for that screen. I only run the five devices on the first
page, so page 2 isn't really needed.
2. I tried to do a power OFF macro to turn all devices
off. But if I didn't have the device on (DVD for example)...
it turns it on instead of off. From searching it sounds
like I need to use a "discreet" code, and it appears the
350 can only learn that from other higher end remotes.
Am I understanding that correctly? I also suppose I
need to check my original remotes and see if they have
a separate power off button, which this remote could learn?
3. Are there any other websites/instructions that go into
a bit more detail than the instruction manual? Or is
searching on here the best way to learn about other things
I can do with macros? I'd like to see common/accepted
ways people setup their power ON/OFF macros.
I guess I'm thinking, my main power on macro will be to
turn on the TV/Cable/Audio. Then each device button macro
(maybe after a 1 second delay) should turn on that device,
switch the audio & TV input accordingly. Then my Main
power off macro would turn everything off. Does that
sound logical/reasonable?
Thanks in advance.
PS - The local shop I bought the MX-350 from was a little
leery about me attempting to set this up myself. Of course
since they charge $150 for programming, I'm sure they
wanted to do it. After running through the instructions
& setup what a joke. It was VERY easy so far I thought.
i have an mx3000 and i had a similar problem. my macro for system off for the dvd is dvd=play then i put in the power button for dvd. i guess the play button usually turns the dvd player on, then power again to shut it off. i do it this way because when i turn my system on my dvd player stays off, until i press the dvd icon, then it powers up. i hope this didnt sound too confusing.
