Just purchased one of the Universal Remote Controls. I need a little support. The software database does not have all the discrete codes for my Panasonic Th-50px50U. The major stumbling block is how to program the video input (HDMI, DVD, Cable, etc). I know I can select this item and scroll down. But I want to turn on the TV and have the video input in the ready for watching for example cable. Can anyone please assist me or tell me where to get this information. I spent considerable time on the Internet and on this forum. Most people do not have the mx900. (Apparently, this model does not allow me to program in the hex codes as other models allow).

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Remote Central. First, you'll find a lot more about the MX-900 in the "Complete Control" forum (see link at top). This forum is for the older Home Theater Master and Consumer series remotes.

Second, have you tried using the Inputs in the "Discrete Functions" section of the IR database for Panasonic? Also, I have a description on how to use hex codes with a PC-programmable URC remote in the FAQ section of my website.

I had the 50x50u a year and a half ago with an MX-700 and don't remember not having discretes for the inputs; I'm fairly sure they exist, if not for every input.
At worst, you send the discrete for an input you CAN select and then toggle to the one you want from there.

We sell many Panasonic and MX-900 systems. When you compose your macros do this. If HDMI is input 5 try entering the "input" or "video" command first and then number of the input such as "5" next.

Works all the time for us.

If you are going to do the job...why not do it the right way?

You might have to program a very short delay between the input command and numerical command. I know I did with my MX-850 and the same tv.
