I am looking for a cordless headset that is capable of sending and recieving from an outside source (i.e. computer, stereo). Any products or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.

There are yet none in the market that will satisfy your minimum demand for quality.

Sony makes an ir and rf models. I have one of the ir models (MDR-IF120). Works fine for my needs. You must be in the line of sight for it to work, but it does the job for me and it's cheap, I paid 30-40 bucks @ Target or Wal-Mart.

Good luck

As already posted by Vardi, no cordless phones are capable of high fidelty sound. There are two types on the market: those that communicate via RF (900MHz) and those that use IR. Sony makes the IR kind. They are plagueed by fairly high noise level and their sound quality is mediocre at best. I didn't try their RF phones.

Recoton makes 900MHz headsets, (that are also marketed under the Advent and Jensen names). They are all prone to static noise when input signal to the transmitter is too low and distortion, when it's too high.

I have the Advent AW720 ($80 list). The headset comes with 2 NiCd batteries (can be charged through the transmitter). Sound quality is adequate for watching TV at night, when the spouse is sleeping, but nothing I would connect to my sound system. The next model up ($100) has a better sounding head headset that uses 3 rechargeable batteries (same transmitter), but still, I wouldn't use it for music (I have Sony MDR-V6 for that -- very nice, and very cost effective). It also (at least, the sample I got) had a severe case of impulse noise...
