It's not hard to get hold of in the UK (I supply them to other customers) and you can buy them brand new from a variety of UK based company's without even looking too hard on the internet.

How about you NOT rip people off? If you posted here you must have read the boards and know how much a new control is. Lets look at the facts of your post
1) Hard to get in England? Err NO!
2) £295 for a 2nd hand model. Brand new £230 from a web site widely advertised in these boards
SO,
1) You fully well know you ripped some poor guy off
2) He was stupid for not making the simplest check to ensure what he was paying was reasonable.
