Hello,

I'm looking for an easy way (design [idea], schematics, off-the-shelf
product/building blocks) to drive my stereo's infrared remote controlled
devices from the room next door (where I have installed an auxiliary pair of
speakers).

Any pointers?

TIA

RCA and several other companies have a system I call a Powermid- it is a 2 piece system a reciever which goes in the other room and a transmitter that goes in the stereo room. They work good for short distances (ie. 50ft max). System should sell for about 40 to 50. Any retailer which sells DSS will proablably carry them or know of them.

Thx for the ptr. After posting I'd done a bit of surfing and found out about the PowerMid on www.smarthome.com

Do you know if the power adapters are bundled or if you can buy the gizmo without? I live in France so run on 240V...

Powermids for 240V are also available in Europe.

Look at the following sites:

www.intellihome.be
www.marmitek.com
www.unidom.fr

I only have experience with intellihome. Great service and if you find a product cheaper elsewhere, they will sell it for the same price.

I needed to do the same thing except I wanted to control everything from out on the patio where I'd installed a couple of outdoor speakers. I checked into the Radio Shack 1995 remote control with rf capability and it works fine (about 50-60 feet away from the room with the components). It controls a 400 cd changer, amp, dvd, tv (for listening to the football games) and minidisc flawlessly. I got it on sale for $49. This price includes the rf receiver/transmitter that must be in the room with the components.

Hope this helps
