hello, i've had my ipronto for 3 days now.... i've spend day and night setting it up and I'm very happy with my layout and the way in which all the buttons respond and act. I'll upload my .icf file soon.

So far I've set up

Sky Plus
Panasonic TV
Playstation 3
Onkyo TX-SR606 AV Reciver (DTS HD MA & Dolby True HD)
Onkyo idock (Iphone 3G)

However I'm stuck on my last device, my home theater PC.
My old Logitech remote, Harmony 885 manged to cope fine but the ipronto stugles to learn the IR codes and when it does, the timings/delays are slow.

My PC is
[Link: thermaltake.com]
with software/remote by
[Link: soundgraph.com]

i would use a MCE remote but the ipronto default keys are poor under WebTV - Mircosoft (no playback buttons etc)

Also problem number 2.... every morning the ipronto checks for firmware upgrades and fails, the epg download fine. Anyway to resolve this, anyway to turn of the auto update of software and just leave the epg on??

Thank in advance.

Welcome!

Issue 1: A couple of things to try
- See if other Pronto remotes have the device and get the IR Hex codes from them
- Have you emailed soundgraph and asked if they will give you the IR codes?
- Try learning with different lengths of pressing the original remote buttons and distances. Make sure you have low light. Try learning from the 885 instead of the soundgraph remote. If the 885 did well, copy that.
- Also you just listed the case, not what the computer is. Are you using XP or Vista? Where is the IR port? Is is positioned well? Are you using the IPronto or the IR Blaster?

Issue #2: Try to do a manual update when connected and see if that will stop the automatic attempts. What version of firmware is loaded? You cannot turn the EPG off.

Thanks for the reply, is the IR Hex the code that reads like 00010101010110101010101 etc that can be copied and paste - it would be great if the other pronto remote software had my PC IR Codes and i could just copy and paste them in...

I was gonna post on Soundgraphs forum, so i'll try that if all else fails.

I tried learning from both the soundgraph remote and the 885... the 885 fails everytime, but the soundgraph says 'learn succesfull' but upon testing the learnt button, it doesn't work or very delayed....

I'm running vista, the power button on the ipronto boots up the pc from cold but the IR on the PC is very low down, about 8" off the floor.

I don't want to turn the epg off, very happy with that and it downloads fine, but every morning, the remote trys a auto firmware update and can't connect to boot.pronto.philips.com

Thanks again for the reply.....

I believe that is the latest version, 1.9.5. Have you tried the manual update to see if that will stop future update attempts yet? Yes, the HEX codes are the 0101 etc numbers you are looking for. For the 885, are you trying long presses? Sometimes a really quick press is all it takes to learn the remote. Try different lengths, some take a while. I take it you are using the IPronto itself and have to point it at everything you want to operate?

I've tried all diffrent ways of learning but non run smoothly.. I've decided to use the MCE database on the ipronto as the limited keys (no dvd playback buttons) run smoothly.... I just need the MCE IR Hex codes to add the missing buttons...

Do you know any links to them?

As for the auto update, I didn't wake up to the bootscreen/bios asking, so fingers crossed. All in all i'm very happy with the ipronto, i would fancy a TSU9600 but the screen is to small, meaning lots of pages for one device, and no epg, which is a nice feature.....

Best thing to do is search through the various Pronto sections and the discrete HEX Code forum and files in the Pronto section.
