Anyone know anything about EPG? I just downloaded and read through the iPronto users' manual, and it seems to indicate that you have to register for the electronic program guide (EPG) in order to get that function working on the iPronto... Wonder if its free or if its subscription based... Anyway, in the registration instructions, it specifically talks about "cable providers." Does anyone know if this means DirecTV users are out of luck?

I suppose it depends on whose service they're using. DirecTV is available on some, but not others.

As for cost: I don't know, but I'm guessing that it's subscription-based.

I think I had read the info somewhere. If I remember correctly the first year is free but you pay after that.

I went to a Pronto training and the people from Philips stated that when you purchase the ipronto the customer gets a 3 year subscription

In the iPronto flash tour on page six under installation it says
"Configure the Electronic Program Guide"

"The full contribution of the cost for a five year subscription is included in the sales price. You only need to activate..."

OK, the cost for the EPG is in the price of the iPronto. After that time you will need to subscribe (that way we cover no matter how long it will be, until it is out they can change their mind :-))

The EPG does have support for antenna, cable, and SAT systems. But only one at a time so if you have cable and DirecTv you would have to select one or the other for the EPG.

In the training they stated that It will come with a 36 month subscription with the ability to renew. No price for the renewal was known at the current time.
