It seems that the lockup seems to be a common problem after looking at the past posts. I purchased the unit refurbished last October (2005) and recently it started locking up when it goes into sleep mode. You can tell when it is locked up by just looking at the clock - it usually freezes and will not show the current time.
The past posts have frequently pointed to the wireless card as the culprit - so I have ordered a Belkin F5D6020 to see if it is the cause. I did factory reset the unit so it needed to download the latest firmware and instead of taking 20 minutes as stated it was close to an hour - maybe the card is not working properly.
I did some searching on the internet and found a list of PCMCIA cards that have the Prism chip set that has been mentioned in the past. I filtered the list so that the cards that have been verified as Linux compatible are listed first and the rest are using the Prism chip set but there is no information as to the Linux compatibility.
It may come in handy some day since the 802.11b cards are becoming hard to find. If anyone has used any of the listed cards in the I-Pronto maybe you can post a note with the make and model so it will be easier for someone needing a card in the future to select the good from the bad.

Sorry, I tried to copy in a text file and the spacing was lost. Is there a place where I can upload a spreadsheet with all the info?

Have you updated to the latest firmware? That seems to have solved the lockup problem for most people (me included).

Yes I have and it takes about 1.5 hours to download. I even put a dedicated 802.11b access point in the room to make sure it has a good signal. I did buy a microsoft 802.11b card through Ebay (it is also a Prism chipset card) and it will download the latest firmware in about 30 minutes but after finishing the download it reboots and it will constantly give the pulsing "O" - nothing ever appears on the small LCD display. The card must not be totally compatible with the firmware. If I take out the microsoft card and re-insert the Philips card it will boot properly and do its usual sleep problem.
