Is it possible to set the duration of an IR Code. I have a mini mac and to set the unit to sleep mode the IR duration must be 5sec+ of the code listed below

0000 006D 0024 0000 0155 00AF 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0042 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0042 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0017 0016 0042 0016 0017 0016 0042 0016 0600 0155 0057 0016 00AF

I have a ProntoNG and I know I can alter the duration on that unit, could I save the code to this, change the duration and then teach the iPronto??

Why waste the effort? Have you ever seen a learning remote that learns the duration (especially one as long as 5 seconds) from the teaching remote?

The learning process doesn't work that way.

Sorry, I don't know how to get a long duration on an iPronto.

John, what happens in the Pronto system when duration is set? Is duration something interpreted directly by the firmware, or does it modify the specified IR code? If the latter, there ought to be a way to capture the modified code so that it could be copied into an iPronto icf.

There is no way in Pronto Hex to specify duration.

There is no way in the IR signal itself to distinguish duration that has been forced by the firmware from duration that occurred due to a long press of the button on an original remote or on a learning remote that properly learned the repeat pattern.

I'm sure you know that a learning remote does not record the duration of a long press.

The Pronto Hex at the top of this thread has no repeat part. The original signal probably had the same repeat part as an NEC1 signal, but was learned badly to produce that Pronto Hex.

Without a repeat part in the Pronto Hex, nothing tells the Pronto how to correctly extend the signal when a duration is specified. I don't know what it does in that case: Not extend it? Incorrectly extend it? Somehow guess right and correctly extend it?

But BEST CASE it correctly extends it: You still have an ordinary signal (like a long press of the original remote) from which another learning remote will NOT learn the duration.

works on mine. i have a ps2 remote and to turn it off you have to hold the button. if you just push it, it will reset. just learn the code and hold the button, it should work!

The Pronto Hex quoted at the top of this thread would not do the right thing for a long button press.

I don't recognise the signal, so I don't know whether it was learned slightly wrong or very wrong. If it was slightly wrong then the correct signal is

0000 006D 0022 0002 0155 00AF 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0042 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0042 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0017 0016 0042 0016 0017 0016 0042 0016 0600 0155 0057 0016 0630

In a regular Pronto that signal could be used with a 5 second press as long aas the signal was the only action on the button.

I don't know what an iPronto does with long button presses.
