As nice as it looks, I refuse to spend over a grand on a remote that Philips will drop support on before they get everything working as in the case of the iPronto. I purchased it, along with other, because all the hype of features with "future upgrades". Well Philips did not deliver and as a matter of fact never finished iProntoEdit as it lacks features found in ProntoEdit or ProntoEditPro along with major limitations and bugs. Sorry Philips but you fooled me once and got my money but not again.

Philips is claiming that the 9600 is extremely reliable. That has yet to be confirmed, of course, but, if it's true, and the editor is as cool as reported, this could be the remote many have been waiting for. The screen is not as big as an iPronto, but the VGA resolution will permit the use of smaller buttons.

I also think that the compatibility with Lutron and Escient systems is just the first step in a what will be a range of partnerships. Maybe one day it will be easy to control a ceiling fan without a degree in rocket science.

I will wait for the reviews on this unit, it looks very promising and I do look forward to it. But I do have a sour taste left by philips with the way they treated the ipronto.

looks like they "used" the ipronto and us to figure out all the bugs, or try to.
