Not sure if anyone is interested but I found this today

http://www.playerpal.com/

Basically it allows you to control Windows Media Player or ITunes remotely via a web browser, and as I have my PC hooked up to my Stereo, so no more getting up and down, use the Ipronto Browser connect, and change albums build playlists view cover art etc etc etc....this rocks!!!

Enjoy

Jon

Hi Jon,

Glad you like PlayerPal and that it works on the Ipronto! The use of PlayerPal on completely unexpected devices is exactly why it was built with web technologies. Good to see it is actually happening in reality :)

Would you be able to send me some pictures of it in action? I would love to post about this on the PlayerPal site and put them up in the "PlayerPal on real devices gallery" [Link: playerpal.com]

Given all your experience with remotes it would be great to hear your feedback & suggestions. If you have time please drop by the PlayerPal Google Group [Link: groups.google.com]

Cheers,

Ben (Mr PlayerPal)

This looks like a fantastic product and what I have been searching for for a long time now!!!

Couple of suggestions if I may!

A dedicated screen for use on the iPronto would be great, the PSP is a bit small and the full is a bit to big.
Support for existing playlists (i think may be on the way) would be excellent!!

Thanks for such a great product!!!

Thanks for your feedback calston!

You are correct, support for playlists will be added to the PSP skin in the next version. You can use them now, but only in the PDAClassic skin (there is a playlists link at the bottom of each screen in PDAClassic).

Jon also talked about the desire for an iPronto skin. I am keen to do this too, or help someone do it. Skinning is fairly straightforward. I just need to put some tutorials up. There is demand for adjustments for other devices like the Nokia 770 too.

Cheers,

Ben

Hi Steve,

The address depends on your network setup. Hover over the PlayerPal icon to get the address. Read How so I start using PlayerPal? for more information.

Thanks Ben worked great.
Playerpal Works great. The new skin for ipronto looks pretty good
but buttons could be larger so they can be selected by finger instead of stylis. the page could hold more albums so there is less page jumps, Maybe 60 ( not a big problem). You might be able to pick up an ipronto from RefurbDepot.com got mine last december for $800 looks brand new and still working great.

The only suggestion I have is to make it work with WinAmp as that is my media player of choice for playlists, etc...

steve6666 - thanks for the suggestions. the number of albums will be a configuration setting so that can be tweaked easily enough. i'll make a note about the buttons too. i think that will be a css tweak.

micahTV - adding winamp support is easy enough to do as playerpal is pluggable. however, it is unlikely to happen anytime soon as it would take a fair amount of time, and the demand is low (you are the first person to request it :)

ben

ps anyone know how i can make remotecentral send me an email when this thread updates? i have it in my favourite threads but no emails :(

Hi Ben, very glad to see that 4.3 is going to offer the iPronto user some configuration settings. Is there any chance you could post some detail on the 4.3 spec either here or on your web site??

Also, any idea on when 4.3. will be rolled out??

Many thanks

I finally got PlayerPal up and running. It's great so far. I cannot wait for the new skin to take advantage of the increased space. Any 4.3 news?
