My iPronto freezes up at random. I do seem to get more use out of it than maybe some other posts I have read on this forum.
The reset button in the back will not get it unlocked. I have to pull the battery plug to get it back again.
I have version 1.9.5 and I am using the iPronto with a NetX. Both units use a Fixed IP address.
I'm guessing but I would guess the freeze is network activity related. I did see some references to problems with the WiFi card? Any way of identifying which ones are good and which ones are not?
Any other MAGIC Ideas would help. I love the iPronto but the freeze up is not user friendly.
Thanks Hank

WiFi card might be the problem. See other posts about this in this forum.
- Try t o disable any encryption (WEP) for test only! - Try to load an "almost" empty icf file to iPronto, e.g. a test screen with ONE button
Well, that's all I know how to track the problem.
Replacing the WiFI card could be a problem because you need to make sure you'll get a correct one which will be found be Linux OS on the iPronto.

Kalle

I would never turn on WEP. IT IS OFF for sure.
I'm not sure what your Linux OS reference is about.
The WiFi card in the iPronto looks very Vanilia - yes it is by Philips - but I'll bet almost any industry standard card will work?
Anyone tried a non-Philips Card?

Hi drhankz,
try to search for WIFI or WLAN card in this forum. Many users tried other WLAN cards and they DIDN'T work!
About Linux: The iPronto's OS is Linux (correct, i-Scale Linux). And the Philips guys have included a driver for a special type of WIFI card. Also another driver for a MMC card and guess, only a few cards are working in that damned device!
So, please make sure to find the correct card before buying something which won't work ....
Have you tried to operate the iPronto with an "almost" empty icf file?
Still freezing?
Best regards,
Kalle

Just tried my Belkin F5D6020 802.11b card after reading this and it seems to work fine
It's slimline too so no problems getting the cover back on

Good Call on the Belkin - If I need to try a NEW Wifi Card - I'll keep that one in mind.
My iPronto has been nice to me for a LONG time now [GRIN], I'll keep my fingers crossed.
