Greetings,

I've recently developed two problems with my iPronto and wanted to get your thoughts before I pay Philips some serious cash to "repair" my remote.

Here's what it's doing:

After an overnight lock-up (they happen about once every 2-3 weeks on my unit), the backlight suddenly won't turn off. I've adjusted the settings for both with and without A/C power to the minimum and I still can't get it to turn off.

The more serious problem, however, is that whenever I press the screen, it believes I'm pressing about an inch to the right of where I'm actually pushing. It makes using the remote almost impossible, especially for guests. I've tried the calibration routine dozens of times, always with a calibration failed error.

(additional troubleshooting steps listed in reply below)

My remote is slightly out of its 12 month warranty and Philips has taken the position that extending customer service to a customer who paid $1,500 for a half-baked, mis-represented product is out of the question.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I guess that would be useful information, wouldn't it? :)

The unit presently has firmware 1.95.

I have manually reset the unit.
I have re-loaded my icf file.
I have forced a complete fresh download of the firmware (the six partitions delete and then the unit downloads the latest firmware and the factory icf file).

None of these has had any effect on the two problems I described.
