In case anyone has cameras around their house and was wanting to be able to view them on the iPronto I thought I would tell you what I have found that works really well.

My setup at home includes 5 day/night analog cameras that I can watch on any of my TV's. I bought an analog/digital converter from Stardot-tech (called Express6) http://www.stardot-tech.com/ and it works brilliantly.

Basically the Express6 is a web server that you can view from your iPronto. It works best if you view 1 camera at a time. In my case I like to always view our nursery or the front door. It is nice to be able to view the baby right there on the remote while we watch TV or keep an eye on the front door.

Best,
Clay

Interesting - but how do you get the iPronto browser to refresh automatically (as I presume the images captured by the cameras are displayed as still images)?

you don't. it uses java push to send the images to your ipronto. the FPS are actually surprisingly good. It is very useable.

oops - sorry guys. It uses JPEG push - not Java to stream the video. There are no plugins required.

PS: There is a cheaper way to do this, do a search on ebay for "IPVideo" or "Video Surveillance Network Web Server" it's about $100 and works well!

These will not work as they require active X .The Axis 241S is the cheapist option at £280.00 + tax this uses MJPEG push aswell. Looked at all the video servers when i had problems with streaming cameras to a Crestron TPMC-10 panel. Hope this helps.

OK, glad to know the other video servers require the browser to have Active X. Then what about that software I found somewhere in this forum that allows the ipronto to view what is running on your main computers desktop? Not sure I remember what posting it was mentioned in or what it was called, but if your main system PC had the IP up of the webcam and then you logged into your PC via the iPronto, then that would do the trick right? Not too mention save you nearly a grand in hardward! Any thoughts?
