Hello all, especially iPronto developers!

I tried to contact Philips support many times :-) but since this is almost impossible I allways got some mails from a support company in The Netherlands, so maybe can read this here and notice this for the next version of the firmware.

Philips is still using the WEP encryption protocoll for the WLAN communication with the access point and/or NetX. So I set my access point as we all to WEP - WPA is still not supported.

As you all know WEP is a very unsafe protocoll regardless if 128 bit keys are used. I don't like to have a widely open access point only because the Philips programmers are not able to code an additional algorithm like e.g. WPA which is safe.

I strongly recommend Philips to put all source codes of the iPronto project in the web so that some people there can develop the missing features and to code absolutely necessary security related functions, like WPA!

Thanks!

Best regards,

Kalle

Hello ipronto developers,

any news regarding this? The missing WPA encryption is still a very very big drawback using the ipronto!

Best regards,

chris

.. and it's damned unsecure to operating access points with WEP.

It's like you would operating a Windows PC with no security patches installed and no antivirus scanner.

It's a real shame for Philips .............

Best regards,

Kalle
