No auto updates to the EPG - thanks to the 'crack' programmers at Philips!

Great ! after one year of daily crashes, the last firmware seems to be stable since two weeks now.

But like for many others here, the automatic EPG download is definitely broken !!!
How is it possible to miss that before release ?

Well Philips, don't you think it's time has come to give us all some explanation about the quality of the latest firmware? What are you going to do about : "learning" without a tool bar and the epg automatic download failure?

Well, it looks like Philips has no intention to give any decent response at all!
Therefore, don't you all agree now that time has come *WE ALL* take action to Philips?

Send an email to the general customer support department if you (like me) are very unsatisfied too. Philips doesn’t fulfill promises they have made since time of introduction.

>>>>
Dear customersupport,
I also am an very unsatisfied user of the Philips iPronto. I’ve paid a lot of money for a device that *DOES NOT* fulfil promises made by your corporation.

Prontoteam:
*FIX THE AUTOMATIC EPG-UPDATE
*FIX THE "LEARN" BUTTON
*GIVE US MORE FEEDBACK REGARDING FUTURE UPDATES, NEW FUNCTIONALITIES AND TIMETABLE FOR iPRONTO* <<<<<<

EVERYBODY, sent your complaints to:

'[email protected]'

Dear iPronto users; *ACT NOW*
Let's make THEM better!!

I really think there some guys out there, who can develop much better software for this device..
I don't get the EGP error but
again the should make better software for this hardware.. something that we can really 'control'
like an activated USB so we can make our one software java based
or uploading software to play mp3's or video files.
I guess this device can do so much more!
is there a way of developing new software for this device?
or should we send a iPronto to dvdjon (http://nanocrew.net/) to hack the source code ;)

Hello,

I didn't updated my Ipronto's Firmware at this time
Reading what you all write, I hesitate to upgrade now..
What must I do : install the new one ..or.. wait for a non bugged version ?

It's a pity that whe cannot return to the previous firmware version after trying the last one..
It's a pity that EPG cannot be deactivated (no interest for me )
It's a pity that Philips doesn't seem very interested by this remote which have so many ... dead or non used possibilities..
and so on :-( :-(

I've been out of the loop for a few months. It's been many weeks since the release of the new firmware, however until I can see a fix to the problems stated, I won't upgrade.
Has the EPG download problem been resolved?
Thanks,
Phil-bert

It has now, thanks to the diligent work of Team Pronto. You can now download firmware version 1.9.5 and, supposedly, the EPG problem has been fixed. No word of the permanent fix for the problem of the missing learn button yet, but I'm sure they are working hard on it as we speak.

Will some brave soul please be kind enough to try this upgrade and let us know if it works? I don't think I'm willing to risk it until someone else says it's safe!

Well, so far so good, since 1.9.5 mine crashes only every 3 days which is quite an achievement knowing that for the past year, it crashed 3 times a day.
EPG download is back and has been flawless since update.
So, for me at least, it's the best version so far.

No EPG updates since 1.9.5 firmware for me, can do them manually ... Couple of lockups that required rebooting ...

Purchased two Iprontos last week and updated to 1.9.5

I am having charging problems on one.

They are both loosing time zone settings, freezing awake and sometimes freezing asleep.

EPG works, sometimes yes - sometimes no!

:(
