Dear iPronto users,

We have just released new firmware and editor for the iPronto

iPronto version 1.9.4

'Wake Up' problem solved
The problem that iPronto could not be activated anymore in more complex WiFi environments is solved now due to the rework of the complete startup behaviour.

IR improvements
A number of new IR protocols are now supported for learning and sending. These include among others:
Somfy IR codes
Windows Media Center Edition PC

The 'Tools Bar' can now be disabled
The Tools Bar can now be disabled in the Editor to allow full screen customization of your iPronto Remote Control application.
Please note that the previous version of iProntoEdit will work with this firmware. However, to make full use of the new feature, iProntoEdit 2.6.3 is needed.

regards
The ProntoTeam

Thanks, ProntoTeam. Especially looking forward to "playing" without the toolbars.

Nice, but It's about time Prontoteam! For more than a year we were waiting for this feature!! This was an important one but one of *MANY* new features we betatesters proposed. Does this mean that we have to wait another year for the next new feature...

Hmm, what about all the other features we've requested - such as UPnP support, mp3 playback, improved web browser etc? There are a lot of us users out here who've payed a lot of money based on your promises of functions that so far are non-existant... :-(

And believe me, I am a loyal Philips customer (owning several Streamiums, lcd and plasma tv's etc, etc) - so I'm not here to rant or "bash"...simply to request that you fulfil the basic functions I, and many more, expect from this gizmo.

I have a problem
The new firmware does not want to load. My iPronto display all the time blue screen with animation of radiating waves. Reseting, disconnecting batttery and connecting again does not work. I checked my WiFi and laptop can communicate. Is there anyway of going back to firmware that worked?

Update: After n-reset finaly it clicked and started to download and upgrade. It took 2 hr but it works again.

BTW ProntoTeam, I've disabled the TOOLS BAR. I now have placed my own buttons instead of it, exactly in the same area.
Tiny problem;
How do I "learn" my new buttons (with a disabled tools bar!!)?

Solution:
Create a new feature option in the "Button Properties" / "Special Action" / "Learn" or create a new Learn/use button on a new page behind the "View control button"

Well we never explicitly said we wanted to be able to do that. :)

I'm thinking pressing the scroll wheel a few time to put the remote into learn mode.

HELP!

I'd like to upgrade to the new firmware, but the only thing I get is a blue screen that says:

"The required data could not be downloaded from the device update server.

couldn't look up host boot.pronto.philips.com

Press one of the buttons below the screen to continue."

I have tried to repeat the steps by resets, manual config, and just plain pulling the battery, but get the same results everytime!

I can surf the web, update the EPG and get on the pronto site, but can't update!

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated...

Steve

Got it to work. I guess the server must have been busy for a while...

Well I for one am absolutely delighted by this release. Whilst it's too early to say for sure (having only been using the new firmware for 24 hours), the wake up problem does indeed seem to be fixed. For me this was the only "issue" I had with the iPronto...it now does everything I want it to do and does it well!

Well, my iPronto doesn't wake up AT ALL now.

I updated to the new firmware on Jun 14th, and I noticed today that it hasn't done an automatic EPG since.

Has anyone been able to create a button to learn (after disabling the toolbar). I am using iprontoedit 2.6.3.0 and under "special actions" I only see "Back" or "Forward"

My first impressions of the new firmware are OK.

We installed a unit just after Christmas & just would not stay stable...

Was replaced with an AMX after about 3 weeks of customer dissatisfaction.

The iPronto stayed in it's box until last week when I downloaded the latest firmware (after having some fun trying to get it onto our network I might add) and the power issues have gone.

Having the extra screen space from the now removeable toolbar is nice.

I thought the EPG wasn't automatically downloading, however it's seems to have done so at 06.00 GMT today, so we'll just have to keep an eye on it I suppose.

Come on Philips, the normal Prontos work, is this new firmware going to give us the confidence in the iPronto at last?
