My home theater guy is an idiot...he could not figure out how to get on wireless so I had to do it. Could someone help me go through the steps of learning the remote controls into the remote.. Or where can I get codes to put them into my Ipronto..I tried to learn my Comcast Motorola HD box into the ipronto and did all the buttons but still does not work

Advice, start simple, say DVD/CD player, as this type of device doesnt use many buttons, and once you have the buttons working start playing with custom buttons, macros, menus etc etc.

Try downloading a few of the sample ccfs from this site and just play with them in iProntoEdit and learn how people link buttons/screens etc.

I tend to have a hidden screen with very simple monocrome buttons that I then use the pronto to learn the codes from my remote, I then have a visable fancy screen with allt he bells and whistles, this then references the buttons on the hidden screen, that way if I wan to play with the layout I dont have to keep learnign codes. This was one of the biggest lessons I learnt with my old mono ProntoBrick!!!

It will take you at least a month of constant playing before you start to feel that you have a design you like, and then you'll keep on tinkering with it!!!

Woof......

Now what exactly are you doing (step by step) and what exactly isn't working and we might be able to help.

Saying "I have tried to get the Ipronto to learn a remote but the buttons still do not work..Im not sure..." isn't giving us enough info to help you, remember we are not in the same room as you!!

What make of cable box do you have? Is it just the numeric buttons that don't work on the cable box, or is it all of the cable box commands?

Just wondering if this is one of the cable boxes that uses IrDA rather than standard remote IR codes (I believe Telewest use these), in which case I'm not sure if iPronto supports these...somebody else may be able to comment/confirm.

I was having a similar problem at first when I bought my iPronto. The solution (for me) was as follows. When learning a code, I ignore the manual, and press the IR transmitter of my old remote up against the iPronto receiver eye, so they are actually touching. Since adopting this method, I have never had a failed code. Worth a try....
