Hello,

I set my iPronto to update its firmware to the new version 1.8.2. It started to do the update and stopped downloading with partition 3/6. It came back saying to check the network settings. So I checked the WEP key and it didn't match the one to my access point so I started to correct it. Then I remembered that for some reason the HEX code on the iPronto doesn't match what airport express outputs when using passphrase. So now the prior WEP key is messed up and can't remember what it was.

Any how, I removed WEP from the access point and updated the iPronto accordingly. I gave the iPronto a static IP as well. I can't ping the iPronto at the static IP I gave it from my laptop. Looking at the wifi card in the iPronto, I notice that the green LED is blinking and not solid like it normally is. Does this mean the card has lost its association with the wifi network? Right now it is continually trying to download partition 3/6. Is my iPronto an expensive paper weight now. Is there a way to figure out if the update site is down? Anyone know the URL for it?

Thanks.

Sounds like it's the WiFi setting on iPronto rather than the server to me. Check that the SSID is still the correct one for your network, and remember it's case sensitive. Then try switching the iPronto back to DHCP assigned IP, just in case. At least it would let you complete the update before going back to trying out a static IP. Also, make sure the IP address you are assigning is in the range allocated to your router. If you have the correct SSID and DHCP enabled with no WEP, then you should be able to access the network. From there, just change one thing at a time so you know exactly where the problem is when something stops working. If you continue to have WEP problems, you could try using MAC filtering instead.

Yep. The SSID is still correct and the static IP and DNS entries are correct. I haven't reset the iPronto since its been stuck trying to update the firmware. I have been making changes in the "Manual Configuration" service menu which is where the failure notice says to check by pressing any key before it retries after 5 seconds. The problem is it had started to download partition 3/6 then stopped and went into the cycle of trying to download partition 3/6 and saying it failed. It had made through partitions 1/6 and 2/6 ok. So after 14 hours it still hasn't completed the update to firmware 1.8.2. Can their update server be down for that long. And the green LED is still blinking on the iPronto's wifi card.

Well after waiting a few more hours, I decided to take a risk and reset the iPronto. It did come back up and and said that it was damaged and needed to be restored. The green LED was no longer blinking. It must have lost association to the wifi network the first time I tied to update. It was able to go out to the site and start downloading the update. It hung again trying to download partition 3/6 but another reset got it through. And now it's updated to 1.8.2.

Pretty scary doing a reset during a firmware update but it worked out in the end.

Anyone know when Philips might be swaping out existing wifi cards for new ones? I remember reading something about doing that becasue of issues with the current cards.

Thanks.

I just went to update my NetX and it had the same WEP key that I was using on my network. The iPronto must have messed up the key during the update some how. No idea what would cause that during a firmware update but that's what seems to have happend.
