I'm thinking of buying a NetX to go with my iPronto to solve the problem of lost commands when something (usually me knee) gets between the IR emitter on the iPronto and the sensor on the equipment.

What I would like to know from NetX users is whether there is any appreciable delay between waking up the iPronto and the time you can press a button and send a command to the NetX. I notice that there is often a delay of a couple of seconds or so after wake up before the RF icon appears although I don't believe commands to the NetX go via the Wireless Access Point so maybe this isn't a problem.

Also, am I right in thinking that the NetX does not need to be within range of the WAP?

The netx have an 11b card inside ... you need a router to work , you can walk with your control with no problem (at my job he works on every point of the house with no problem)
the delay is very short .... it is less than 2 sec ... i have an icf in the downloads index that works with netx (thiago ramos fanfoni's icf)

sorry about the gramatic

I experience a noticable delay. Not a big deal, but sometimes a little annoying, especially when I want to hit the "action replay" button on the Tivo, and have to wait several seconds for both the iPronto to wake up and RF comms to establish (well I assume that's what is causing the delay anyway). Probably 2-3 seconds I would guess. Not massive, but it depends on how impatient you are.... :)

Thanks for the replies. Its looks like there may be a longer delay with the NetX than with IR. I'm trying a simpler solution to my problem at the moment with an IR receiver mounted near the ceiling so it is less likely to suffer obstructions. It seems to be working well so far.
