Yes. I'm running v 1.8.2, which I presume is the latest. There seems to be no pattern as to when it crashes. For instance it woke up fine this morning after not being used since the night before, and then woke again ok this evening; but then crashed 3 times in the space of an hour or so.

It doesn't seem to be related to what applications I use, or how much the remote is used.

I can confirm that I've heard this is quite a widespread issue (even with the latest firmware installed).

I know three other iPronto users and all have mentioned that occasionally when their ipronto is in sleep mode it will hang, and in some cases the 'screen' buttons will work even though the screen is blank. When this happened on the previous firmware you could sometimes wake the device with the on button but it looks like you have to stab the reset button.

I don't have the problem with the iPronto crashing while it is in sleep mode. But for sometime I have had the problem with the screen buttons and hard buttons working and sending out IR codes even when the device is asleep. This is really annoying when I'm on my tv channel page and I tap the screen to wake it up and it changes channels on the Tivo which I then loose the buffer for the channel I've been watching.

Seems there is a bug in the firmware that is not shutting down the IR sending capabilities while the device is in sleep mode.

we used a belkin F5D6231-4 router at first but the router didnt talk well with the ipronto when the ipronto was about 35' away. if it falls asleep from 35' from wifi point or further, seemed to crash more often. so we changed to a netgear wgt624 and its much better range.

still crashes once in awhile but on top of that this newest firmware update allows this ipronto to use the DHCP which should help re-assign the ip address when it falls off after sitting idle for 24hrs.

this DHCP is also working now on the netx with the latest firmware update. so hopefully the netx wont fall off the network as well.

It's reassuring that I'm not alone in still having the crashing problem even with the latest firmware. Would welcome any pointers from other users who have the same problem on any tips they have for reducing the number of times it crashes.

Hi there.

I have the iPronto since 2 months now and never had this problem, but...
I have now deconnected my WAN due to problems and guess what?
The iPronto crashed when in sleep mode and won't fire up anymore. Although I hear the buttons the screen remains blank. Reset wakes it up again. If I take the wifi card out it won't come back at all.
I do agree that USB would come in very handy, the speed by wifi (although my wan runs at 100Mb) for downloading new ICF's is hell compared to the old ProntoPro via USB. You make a change on the PC, you wanna check how it looks on the iPronto whoops 5 min down the drain!

I'm pretty sure my problem isn't Access Point related. I use a Draytek Vigor wireless router which is incredibly reliable. It has been up for months without requiring a reset/reboot. Both my WiFi notebooks connect to the network first time every time.

I have 2 Iprontos one of which suffers from this problem, after numerous phonecalls to Philips and 2 months of waiting I have now sent my Ipronto to Solectron in Belgium to be repaired/replaced. This problem only started when I upgraded the Firmware and now my 2 Netx lose connection and send continuous signals to my equipment with the Iprontos buttons looking like they are stuck. Does anybody have any idea how to solve the NetX problem pls?

I've just spoken to "Mikko" at Philips Pronto technical support (0906 101 0018), who seemed quite knowledgable on this crashing subject. He confirmed the problem still exists on firmware v1.8.2 and they can reproduce it on their iPronto's in the lab. They are currently working on a fix and will let me know when it is available!
