The iPronto is promoted by Philips as a central controler for home theater, lignting, security etc. and web access. It seems to be unique in combining a very powerful programable IR blaster with network and internet acces. But does it really work? In particular, has anyone found a way of linking the top two IR code pages to the remaining Web Browser pages?

I am trying to build an application using several PC's on my home network together with the lighting system (IR based) and the home theater (part IR based and part PC based). I really want to create IR based pages in the Proto Editor that have buttons with mixed IR and Web access actions.

For example, pressing a DVD button would run a macro to turn on the Projector, delay for 0.1sec, lower the Screen and then jump to a web browser page (one of the left hand side buttons) to access a remote desktop to my PC that acts as the DVD player and file server for all my music.

At the moment it seems as if the IR and Web functions are completely separate... what a waste of the potential of this device! Is anyone else thinking of doing this or am I the only one foolish enougth to try and make the iPronto do what Philips claims in their advertising.

I am interested on trying to utilise the functionality of this powerful linux PC. Have you had any success?

Has anyone else tried this?

Is there any way to gain higher functionality form the fairly basic options offered by the phillips interface?

Is the Bios for the system accessible?
